The Metzeler ME 888 MARATHON™ ULTRA is the best partner for long, safe rides on cruisers, tourers and their custom versions.
To achieve these goals, the designers at Metzeler have ultimately combined the specifications that determine the characteristics of the tyres: profile, structure, tread and compound.
The shape of the structure features a flat and wide geometry that conveys and dissipates the stresses generated under the contact area towards the sides, thus reducing the wear process. To improve wear uniformity, the tread's transverse grooves are discontinuous and interspersed with rubber bridges, resulting in a stronger and stiffer tread to reduce the stresses transmitted to the belt and casing.
The edges of the grooves are critical areas for wear uniformity. The sides of the grooves on the ME 888 have different inclinations to ensure the best operating angle in all positions.
The polymers in the compound resist abrasion, providing better wear resistance and increasing longevity.

Grip in wet conditions

The tread of the ME 888 MARATHON™ ULTRA is an evolution of that of the ME 880 and aims to ensure excellent water evacuation by increasing wear uniformity across the entire tread. Furthermore, a high percentage of silica in the compound formulation ensures chemical grip on wet surfaces.
