Traditional style with contemporary design. This classically styled wet waxed cotton jacket uses traditional materials and manufacturing techniques, but hidden beneath the look ancient lurks a hidden layer of modern technology. The Holwell is produced by British Millerain, a company that dates back to a time when ships were powered by the wind. Their sails were made of cotton that was waxed to protect against the ravages of the sea; the material consequently found its way into the clothes sailors wore to protect themselves from the same weather. Respectful of the material's heritage, the designers atOxford have used traditional sewing methods to assemble the outer garment. For example, the pockets are pleated to lie flat when empty, but offer room to expand when full. The collar and accompanying (removable) waistband are designed and cut in 3 dimensions, rather than as simple flat panels; the resulting fit is simply perfect. On the front of the jacket are two princess seams guaranteeing a tailored fit for women. The labor-intensive triple seams used in all key and critical impact zones are both pleasing to the eye and highly protective. The result is a highly protective jacket that looks and feels great. The entire jacket is CE Level A approved.
