Waterproofing is ensured by a breathable GORE-TEX® membrane, a benchmark in the field. When it comes to thermal insulation, WFX City Evo GTX inaugurates an innovative construction concept. Most winter gloves have always been built the same way... To put it simply: thick, dense thermal insulation on the top of the hand, and thinner insulation in the palm extending up to the fingertips. This is the point weakness of this traditional construction. The cold ends up penetrating through the forks (that's what we call the area between the fingers). FIVE rethinks the fundamentals of thermal insulation by adopting a new construction called THERMO+™, offering up to 20% thermal gain, based on PRIMALOFT® insulation, the top in the field. The concept is quite simple: the thick insulation at the top flows down to the fingertips, while the thinner insulation is contained at the (flat) base of the palm and fingers. This means reconsidering all the autres elements of gant, such as the structure outer shell or the waterproof membrane, in order to preserve perfect overall flexibility and a good grip on the handlebars. It's when riding in the cold that the full benefits of Thermo+™ construction become apparent. The thicker, denser insulation in the forks provides a far more effective thermal barrier, and helps preserve the hand's natural warmth in the gant, longer. Add to this the dual (thumb and forefinger) Touch Screen™ system for handling touch screens, the Clear Vision Pad for wiping the helmet visor while riding, the dual closure system including the Over Size Cuff (on the LONG version) making it easier to fit the cuff onto the jacket sleeve, and you've got a sure-fire value for tackling the city in winter.
